Installing your cable lock
The cable lock secures your cover to the vehicle so it cannot be pulled off, by wind or by hands. It comes free with every Gold Shield 5L and Supreme Shield HD cover, and works with any CarCover.ca outdoor cover that has grommets. About a minute, no tools.

The install, start to finish
1–2 minutes, 1 person. Straps, buckles and protectors are all included.
Fit it fully, front and rear straps buckled, before the lock goes on.
Two reinforced metal eyelets at the midpoint of the cover, one on each side, at rocker-panel height.
Pass it beneath the vehicle from one side to the other, never through the wheels or over hot exhaust parts.
One end of the cable through each eyelet.
Click both cable ends into the lock and tug to confirm. Pocket one key, keep the spare at home.
The don'ts that keep cover and vehicle perfect
Removal & storage
Unlock, pull the cable back out through the grommets, and coil it. Keep the cable and lock in the storage bag with the cover so they are there next time.
Make sure the cover is completely dry before you put it in the bag. A damp cover in a closed bag will grow mildew.
Cleaning
Wipe the cable dry before it goes in the bag, and give the lock a drop of light oil once a season so it keeps turning smoothly.

Will it stop the cover blowing off in a storm?+
It helps a lot in everyday wind, but it is not made for extreme gusts. For exposed, high-wind parking, add the heavy-duty wind straps, they anchor the front and rear of the cover properly. Wind straps installation guide →
What if I lose the keys?+
Two keys come in the set, keep the spare somewhere safe at home. If both go missing, replacement sets are inexpensive on the cable lock product page.
