Installing your antenna patch

A non-retractable antenna needs a small opening in the cover, and an unreinforced hole stretches and runs like a snagged stocking. Every car, truck, hearse and limousine cover, in every grade, ships with a FREE self-adhesive antenna patch that seals that opening in about two minutes, no tools.

Only needed for a non-retractable antenna. If your antenna retracts, or your vehicle has a shark-fin, you don’t need the antenna patch.

1 × Self-adhesive antenna patch (free with every car, truck, hearse and limousine cover, all grades)
Step by step

The install, start to finish

2–3 minutes, 1 person. Straps, buckles and protectors are all included.

1
Fit the cover first

Position it fully, hems seated and even, so the antenna’s true spot is exact. Never guess and cut off the vehicle.

2
Mark the spot

Where the antenna tip presses against the fabric, mark it with chalk or a pen.

3
Make a small opening

Just big enough to pass the mast through. Small is right: an opening stretches with use, it never shrinks.

4
Seal it with the patch

Feed the antenna through, peel the backing, center the patch over the opening and press firmly from the center out.

The don'ts that keep cover and vehicle perfect

Cut smaller than you think, the patch handles snug, not the other way around
Mark with the cover fitted; a guessed spot lands the hole in the wrong place
Press the patch onto clean, dry fabric, the adhesive will not bond damp
Give it an hour to set before wind or washing
Retractable antenna? Retract it. No cut needed.
Taking it off

Removal & storage

Nothing to remove: once set, the patch becomes a permanent part of the cover, working like a grommet around the opening. If you need to reposition it, do so within the first few minutes, before the adhesive cures.

Make sure the cover is completely dry before you put it in the bag. A damp cover in a closed bag will grow mildew.

Keeping it fresh

Cleaning

Nothing special. Hand wash the cover as normal; the adhesive is weather-resistant and survives washing once fully set.

  • No bleach, harsh soaps or fabric softeners
  • Never machine wash, machine dry or iron
  • Air-dry completely before it goes in the bag

Quick answers

Do I need this if my antenna retracts?+

No. Retract the antenna before covering and skip the cut. The patch is only for a non-retractable mast that has to pass through the cover.

Why not just leave the opening unpatched?+

An unreinforced opening concentrates every gust and tug at one point in the weave. It stretches, then runs. The patch spreads that load like a grommet, so the opening stays the size you cut for the life of the cover.

I cut the opening too big. Now what?+

Center the patch over the opening and press it on; it seals anything smaller than itself with room to spare. For a genuine tear, use a repair patch, the same peel-and-stick fix in a 12 by 12 inch size.

Can I get a spare patch?+

Yes. Every cover ships with one, and spares are on the antenna patch product page, handy if a second vehicle needs one.
